Online Marketing MBA – The Journey Begins! Donna Walsh

Hi. My name is Donna Walsh. I am so excited to be part of Dee Kumar’s Online Marketing MBA Course.

First of all, I would like to tell you about myself and how I ended up where I am. I am 63 years old and was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., USA. My Dad (who is 91 and still going strong) worked as a chemist in the steel mills which was the main industry in Pittsburgh at that time.

However, in the late 1950’s, the steel mills went on strike and the strikes lasted for several years.
Things became so bad economically in Pittsburgh that my parents decided to move to Los Angeles, California where my Dad was offered a position in a name plating company.

I was 9 years old at the time and devastated to leave all of my friends as well as my many cousins. In retrospect, this was one of the best things that ever happened to me as the educational and financial opportunities in LA were much greater than in Pittsburgh.

In school, I focused on Math/Science subjects as I knew I wanted to work with a microscope when I grew up. After graduating from college with a degree in Microbiology, I was accepted into a one year internship in Cytology (cell technology) offered by Good Samaritan Hospital and associated with the University of Southern California.

I was so excited to be chosen as I would be working with a microscope, looking for cellular changes consistent with cancer or precancerous lesions, Herpes, fungus, parasitic infections and more.

This program was very specialized and only accepted a maximum of 6 students every year. I graduated first in my class and also was awarded Student of the Year from the California Association of Cytotechnologists, Los Angeles Chapter. I competed against 5 students from Good Samaritan Hospital as well as 10 students from the medical center at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Over the next 15 years, I worked for several different hospitals. Eventually I was offered a supervisory position with a huge jump in salary at a private lab which was just starting up. One of my first duties was to write the procedure manuals for my department.

These manuals needed to be precise and also needed to explain in detail how my department accepted and processed specimens as well as how the results were reported. And, they needed to be completed before the lab opened for business. Little did I know how much writing these manuals would help me when I became an Internet Marketer.

My parents retired and settled in Las Vegas. My mother found a lump in her breast and had a FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration). They did not believe the lab results so had the slides sent to me for a second opinion. Unfortunately I concurred with the original diagnosis of breast cancer. Two years later my mother passed away. Since I needed a career change and my Dad needed help with my handicapped twin brother who had lived with my parents, I moved to Las Vegas.

I started looking for a new career. However, unless I wanted to work in a convenience store or deal cards, Las Vegas didn’t offer too many opportunities for someone my age. I read on the Internet how I could just purchase this or that course or program about Internet Marketing and I would become insanely rich practically overnight with very little effort. Sounded good to me! So in 2005, I became an Internet Marketer. Needless to say, I soon learned that these claims of easy Internet riches were mainly hype.

I also read that 95% of Internet businesses fail but that meant 5% succeed and I was determined to be one of them. So I looked into affiliate marketing, different niches to enter, the importance of keywords, SEO and on and on. I soon became confused as to what exactly I needed to do as everyone seemed to have a different opinion of what anew Internet marketer should do and how s/he should do it.

I also read that every successful Internet Marketer creates products and does not rely only on affiliate marketing for their main income. Since I am not a software developer and have no programming knowledge, I started writing eBooks.

Since it is very time consuming to write eBooks, I needed to increase my income so I learned how to install scripts, set up websites, sell affiliate products, and anything else that would bring in some money. The more I learned how to do, the more I loved Internet Marketing.

While I have had some minor success and am able to work full time at Internet Marketing, I am nowhere near where I want to be.

When I learned about Dee Kumar and what he offers, I knew this was the answer I was searching for. I am so excited to be part of this opportunity and am looking forward to working with Dee and the others who were accepted. I know I will make lifelong friendships and know we will help one another to become more successful.

Over the next 6 months, I will be sharing the experiences I have with Dee Kumar’s Online Marketing MBA Course. Look for my posts every week and if you have any questions or comments, please use the comment section below.
